About Hestia’s Inspections

I LOVE houses.
I have lived in old houses my whole life, and I love them dearly. I’ve moved around a great deal and know so much about old and unique houses from my life experiences. Growing up I lived in an early 1900s farm that had horse hair for insulation. There was a Victorian in the countryside that was so old it had a land grant from the queen. There was a grow-op that I bought for a steal and learned all about mold and remediation. Even the town houses I lived in throughout Nepean had lessons about old construction habits and quality.

Now I live in a beautiful 200+ year old log cabin hewn by hand by settlers in Ottawa’s early history and I have learnt all about restoration, maintenance, and how to keep them standing for another 200 years. I'm taking these learnings and helping others understand what's involved in keeping their home happy and healthy for years to come.
Who's the Inspector?
For over a decade I ran a cleaning business, surprisingly that taught me a great deal about how to maintain homes of all ages and all levels of construction quality. It taught me about water intrusion and the consequences, it taught me about common electric inconveniences that can become issues, the lifespan of household systems, and it taught me a great deal about what people try to hide while selling a house.
Prior to running my own home maintenance company, I worked in general construction for many years. My father is a general contractor and has renovated countless homes and businesses throughout the Ottawa area over the years. My construction experience ranges from replacing roofs, to repairing foundations, and everything in between.

Hestia is the Greek Goddess of the Hearth & Home.
She represents everyone having a happy, safe, and cozy home.
